* Bratislava, 1837 – † Buda, October 22, 1872 / astronomer ; ; After graduating from the Vienna University of Technology, he worked as an assistant at the Institute of Physics there, at the University Observatory, and then at the Charles University in Prague, and in 1871 he became an assistant professor at the then-founded Hungarian Royal Central Institute of Meteorology and Geodesy. During the administration of the Austrian meteorologist and geophysicist Guido Schenzl (1832–1890), he was the first appointed observer of the Institute. He also performed very accurate planetary and asteroid orbit calculations and geomagnetic measurements in Buda.
