Endre Moravek

* Léva, April 22, 1902 – † Budapest, October 4, 1971 / librarian ; ; He earned a Greek-Latin teacher's degree and a doctorate in humanities from the University of Budapest. He was an unpaid intern at the National Bibliographic Center, then moved to the University Library (1926), where he later headed the processing department. He completed his first major bookkeeping work: Bibliography of Hungarian Classical Philology 1901–1925 (1930). In 1930, he was a guest librarian at the Deutsche Bücherei in Leipzig. He recognized the threat of German fascism to the peoples of the Danube region, and as a result, he published articles on nationalities in the Magyar Szemle and other journals. ; He was transferred to the Nationality School Department of the Ministry of Religion and Public Education. Until his retirement, he worked at the Library of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1948–1962), heading the library processing department, and through the cataloguing reforms he implemented, a high-quality catalog network was built. He dealt with the theoretical issues of cataloguing in several studies. At the end of his official career, he began collecting the material for the Vocabularium abbreviaturarum bibliothecarii.
