Imre Molnar

* Ipolyság, November 26, 1956 – / historian, diplomat ; ; He started primary school in Ipolyfödémes, where he spent his childhood. He graduated from the Ipolyság high school in 1976, and obtained a diploma in history and sociology from the Faculty of Humanities of ELTE in Budapest in 1986. He became a candidate of history in 1998. From 2001, with interruptions, he was the cultural counselor and chief counselor of the Hungarian embassy in Warsaw until 2012. Although he has lived in Budapest since 1986, his publishing activities are closely linked to the history of the Hungarians in Slovakia, as well as to the exploration of the life and work of the Hungarian politician János Esterházy (1901–1957) from the Upper Hungary, and to making his tragic fate known. He is the editor of several compilations and selections, and co-editor (Like a bird driven from its nest…, with László Tóth, 1990), he edited the writings of János Esterházy (The Minority Question, 2000), the diary of the politician's sister (Documents of the suffering history of János Esterházy based on the notes of Mária Mycielskiné, 2007), and in 2008 his book about Esterházy was also published in Polish.
