John Milleter (Maleter)

* Igló, 1691 – † Levoča, 7 March 1755 / doctor of medicine, chief physician of the county ; ; From 1714 he studied medicine for a while at the University of Jena, then went to Leiden, where he furnished the natural history collection purchased by the Russian Tsar Peter I (the Great), which was then transported to St. Petersburg. He was ordained a doctor of medicine in 1717, returned to his homeland in 1718 and settled in Igló. Prince Tódor Lubomirszky, the captain-general of the towns of Spišské, made him his family physician. In 1723 he moved to Levoča, where he was appointed city physician and chief physician of Spišské county. He held this position until his death. He was one of Mátyás Bél’s colleagues in Spišské. In 1739, he published a German-language work on the plague entitled Höchstnöthige Erinnerung, wie sowohl die Bewahrung, als auch die Cur selbst, bei besorgender Contagions-; Zeit anzustellen sei….
