Kristian Mathis

* Bratislava, August 15, 1977 – / physicist, associate professor ; ; Although he was born in Bratislava, he lived in Komárom from infancy, where he completed his primary and secondary education, graduating from the Hungarian-language gymnasium (now: Selye János Gymnasium) in 1995. Between 1995 and 2000, he was a student at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the Charles University in Prague, where he obtained a diploma in solid-state physics. In 2000–2003, he participated in solid-state physics and materials science training at the Charles University in Prague, and in parallel in 2000–2004 at the doctoral school of ELTE in Budapest. In 2004–2005, he was a postdoctoral fellow in Grenoble. In 2005–2007, he was a research fellow at the European Commission's Energy Research Centre in Petten, the Netherlands. From 2007, he was an assistant professor at the Department of Solid State Physics at Charles University, and in 2013, he was an associate professor. ; His research interests include the investigation of the material structure, deformations, and the microstructure and mechanical properties of solids, nanocrystalline and composite materials, using acoustic emission and neutron diffraction. He is a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (since 2004), a committee member of the Czech Society of Modern Materials and Technologies (since 2009). In his spare time, he plays music – he is a violinist with the Bum Chamber Orchestra in Prague, and between 1995–2000, he participated in two albums and several radio and television recordings as a member of the Prague Student Orchestra and the Comorra Chamber Orchestra in Komárom. So far, 35 of his papers have been published in international journals and 10 of his studies in conference proceedings.
