* Rozsnyó, October 12, 1885 – † Budapest, September 17, 1966 / military historian, corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1934) ; ; He completed his high school studies in his hometown. In 1906, he was commissioned as an officer at the Vienna Military Academy and served as a company officer in the 34th Joint Infantry Regiment in Košice. He also fought in World War I. In 1921, he was transferred to the Military History Archives in Budapest, from where he retired in 1940 as the head of the old archives department (from 1938 with the rank of colonel). From 1927, he published his papers dealing with military history issues from the 17th to the 19th centuries. His publications dealing with the life and activities of Miklós Zrínyi (1620–1664), as well as with numerous issues of the Rákóczi War of Independence, are of lasting value. He compiled the biographies and scientific work of the military members of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA Manuscript Archive). He played a significant role in creating the modern, scientifically demanding critical trend in Hungarian military historiography.
