Laszlo Majzon

* Érsekújvár, January 12, 1904 – † Budapest, July 19, 1973 / geologist, paleontologist, university professor ; ; He earned a doctorate in geology, paleontology and geography from the Budapest University of Science and Technology in 1933. From 1932 he worked as a geologist at the Hungarian State Geological Institute. He organized the deep drilling material processing laboratory. He gained professional recognition in the field of processing the “micropalaeontological” material recovered from the boreholes, primarily Foraminifera. During World War II he also worked as a mapping geologist in Transylvania. In 1950–1952 he was director of the Geological Institute, and in 1953 he was appointed honorary university professor at ELTE and was entrusted with organizing the scientific laboratory for oil exploration.
