* Mocsonok, August 15, 1813 – † Esztergom, November 21, 1893 /church and educational writer, graphic artist; ; He completed his elementary school in Érsekújvár and his high school in Esztergom. Until 1834, he studied philosophy and theology in Nagyszombat, where he founded a Hungarian language practice association with four companions. He was tutored by the Baron Sennyey family for two years, and was ordained a priest in 1836. From 1836 to 1838, he served as an assistant pastor in Muzslán. In 1838, he moved to Pest, where he studied law and learned copper engraving, and soon became known for his iconography. His collection of Hungarian icons sold nearly 200,000 copies between 1842 and 1845. He published “landscape drawings” in contemporary newspapers (Regélő, Rajzolatok, Honművész, Életképek, Képes Újság, etc.). In 1842 he was a teacher at the Esztergom Teacher Training Institute, and in 1849–1851 he was a deputy professor of pedagogy at the University of Pest. He was one of the founders of the first nursery school in Pest. In 1857 he became the parish priest of Kürt, in 1866 a canon of Esztergom, and then a titular bishop. During his stay in Kürt, he wrote about the Udvard Calvary, which was built based on his plans and drawings, and about the history of the village. As parish priest of Kürt, he wrote numerous articles about the village, and in all his writings he spoke lovingly of the inhabitants. He was a member of the House of the Order from 1885. He made numerous engravings. He collected folk songs, regional words, and proverbs. He started and edited Uncle István's Calendar from 1856 to 1870, in which he presented the modern achievements of the time according to the peasant's mentality.
