Madari wetlands, flora and fauna

Other - other

In the northern part of the village, under the Újvárivölgyek, a small, narrow stream originates, which flows through the village, parallel to Fő utca. Originally, it flowed into the Danube at Ebed through Búcs, but after the general regulation of the streams, it flows into the river along the border at Dunamocs. The side of the stream is quite marshy, bulrushes, and lined with reeds and sedges. The banks of the stream are decorated with meadows on the outskirts of the village. Before the stream was regulated, there were two seasonal lakes in the village, one at the source of the stream, the other on the lower edge of the village. These lakes dried up in times of great drought, then filled up again in rainy weather. The upper lake was usually used for soaking hemp, and the lower lake for irrigation. ; The vegetation of the border is quite diverse. The mountains are covered with forests, where there are usually deciduous trees. The most common tree species are: acacia, oak, ash, maple, hornbeam. In the forest and on the edges of the forest, hawthorn, blackthorn, goat's-eye, redthorn, sorrel, wild rose, and mountain ash grow. Wild boars, foxes, deer, and hares live in the forests, and sometimes we can also come across traces of badgers. ; In addition to cereals, corn, sugar beet, tobacco, potatoes, and hemp grow on the plains. The spice paprika is of excellent quality, the quality of which rivals that of Kalocsa and Szeged paprika. ; Walnut, plum, cherry, pear, apple, and peach trees, as well as grapes, can be found throughout the border. The breeding and expansion of orchards and grape varieties is currently underway. ; The fauna of the plains includes foxes, hares, hamsters, ground squirrels, field voles, weasels, badgers, and martens. Typical representatives of the bird world are partridges, pheasants, wild ducks, wild geese, and turtle doves. In the forests and fields, larks, starlings, woodpeckers, wagtails, jays, blackbirds, crows, eagles, jays, owls, cranes, and nightingales nest. There is at least one pair of storks in the village every year. In meadows and wetter places, the characteristic call of the warbler can be heard.
