Andor Machnyik

* Vinna, August 19, 1888 – † Fél, April 29, 1955 / agricultural engineer, economic writer ; ; He came from the Szepesség region and completed his university studies partly in Germany. Between 1921 and 1937 he taught at the Hungarian Agricultural Vocational School in Komárom and then at the Rimaszombat. After 1945 he worked for a short time at the Statistical Office in Bratislava. He regularly wrote articles for the Komárom newspapers and the Prague Hungarian Newspaper about the situation of the Hungarian peasantry in the Uplands and about the initiatives that sought to improve their situation with new professional knowledge. In two articles he also dealt with the importance of peasant colleges. In 1935, he published his work Csallóköz in Komárom, in which he gives a scientific description of the region, covering geographical, hydrological and soil conditions, describes the population and economic conditions of individual villages and deals separately with the consequences of the Czechoslovak land reform for Hungarians. The volume was republished in 1993 in the Kalligram Könyvkiadó Csallóközi Kiskönyvtár series, edited by László Koncsol and with an afterword by Katalin Vadkerty, supplemented with documents related to the land reform.
