* Hernádszurdok, October 25, 1860 – † Budafok, March 2, 1925 / art historian, teacher at the state higher commercial school, corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1906) ; ; Adolf Mihalik (†1903) railway official, houseowner in Košice, soldier of the 1848–49 revolution and war of independence and son of Mária Zányi. He attended secondary school at the state higher real school in Košice and the Budapest teacher training school, and in 1881 he obtained a diploma in the quantitative and natural sciences subject group. In 1881 he was appointed as a teacher at the state civil school in Liptószentmiklós. In 1890 he was transferred to Nagyszőlős, to the state civil school. In the 1890–1891 school year, the young Béla Bartók was the class teacher in the first grade of the middle school, and finally in 1892 he was transferred to Košice at his own request. From 1883 to 1890, he was the executive secretary of the Hungarian Carpathian Association, and after his departure he was elected a perpetual honorary member. In 1896, the Minister of Trade invited him to the historical main group of the millennium national exhibition, where he worked for four months in arranging the art treasures and performing professional work. In the same year, he was elected the keeper of the Upper Hungarian Museum in Košice, and in 1897 he became a member of the board of directors of the National Archaeological and Anthropological Society. In 1900, he made a study trip to Switzerland and southern Germany, and then visited the Paris World Exhibition. The Minister of Religion and Public Education appointed him a permanent member of the Hungarian National Council of Fine Arts in 1901. He was the editor and publisher of the Tatravidéki Híradó from September 1884 to 1885 in Liptószentmiklós, then edited the Yearbook of the Košice Museum. From 1903 he was the ministerial commissioner of the Košice Museum. In 1907 he became a lecturer of the National Chief Inspectorate of Museums and Libraries, later the national chief inspector. Between 1907 and 1918 he edited the Museum and Library Bulletin. He prepared several studies of historical relevance. Due to his employment during the Soviet Republic, he was dismissed after its fall. His son Sándor Mihalik is an art historian. ; ; His main works: ; Geography of Liptó County.
