Matyi Lúdas' characters in Nagymegyer in 1950

The Csemadok Nagymegyeri Organization was founded on January 25, 1950 with 39 members. The first play presented by the organization was Lúdas Matyi, directed by János Schnell, which was presented on May 1, 1950. The folk theater, which had a cast of 40 people, brought the organization its first financial and moral success. The play was presented seven times in Nagymegyeri. This was also the beginning of the series of theatrical successes of the Csemadok Nagymegyeri Organization. After that, the theater group's new and new productions followed one another until the early sixties. In the middle of the picture are two prominent actors of the group, Lajos Takács (in the role of Lúdas Matyi) and Imre Németh (in the role of Döbrögi). The latter, as a director in the fifties, also determined the boom of the theatrical movement in Nagymegyer.
