* Besztercebánya, December 28, 1825 – † Rákospalota, July 14, 1900 / theoretical pedagogue, college and university professor ; ; He trained as a priest, but abandoned his theological studies in Rozsnyón, and obtained a diploma from the Royal Teachers' College of Pest in 1848. He was a high school teacher in Szeged, then in Kecskemét until 1861, later in Besztercebánya, and in Bratislava. From 1870 he was a professor of educational science at the University of Pest. He was one of the most influential representatives of 19th-century Hungarian pedagogy. He published numerous articles and books on pedagogical theory. He was attacked for his ideas, which were considered somewhat one-sided, and for this reason he resigned from his membership in the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
