Lily motif as plaster decoration on houses in Gömörpéterval

Other - other

We believe we have discovered an interesting motif on the plaster decoration of four houses in Gömörpéter. Based on the photographs, it is adorned on three houses as a plaster decoration, on one in painted form, but in conversation with Béla Trizna, who participated in the exterior renovation of the house, he said that it was also a plaster decoration before, the owner insisted that the time-worn decoration remain even after the renovation! ; The motif shows a lily, which bends in four directions. It is embraced by a lily “shoot” from its four corners. Unfortunately, its origin is unknown, older masons could not say anything about it. It is possible that they took the motif from each other in the village. It has been suggested that it is an Anjou lily, but its pattern and representation differ from the lilies seen on the houses. Regardless, it could be in a stylized form. It is quite similar to the motif treasure commonly used in Kazakhstan. Seeing the images, Kazakh ethnographer Babakumar Khinayat commented: “The pattern is called tort kulsk, meaning four ears. The four corners of the world, bringing balance and harmony. It is often found in embroidered carpets and other household boutiques. It is often used as a vein, referring to family and life harmony. It is also common in jewelry. There is a trace of a rose or bird on the edge of the motif.”
