István L'huillier

* Komáromcsehi, January 25, 1865 – † Košice, February 4, 1931 / gardener, academic ; teacher ; ; He completed his studies in Rákospalota. He also worked at the Nádasdladány manor and in the Schönbrunn palace garden in Vienna. Between 1891 and 1896 he was the chief gardener of the state nursery and seed production colony in Turda. In 1896 he was one of the main organizers of the horticultural exhibition of the millennium celebrations. In 1905 he joined the Magyaróvár Academy of Agriculture, where he was a teacher of general horticultural knowledge and kitchen gardening until 1914. In his lectures he dealt in detail with the production, propagation and breeding of rootstocks. His experiments with artificial fertilization on vegetables were pioneering. He also proposed the development of factory vegetable production related to agricultural crop production. He wrote numerous articles for the Horticultural Journals and the Public. In 1914, he became a lecturer in horticulture and viticulture at the Košice Academy of Economics. In 1920, he retired from teaching and established a horticulture farm in Košice.
