* Pest, 1795 – † Nyitra, 23 November 1863 / botanist, pharmacist, newspaper editor, corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1858), the first major figure of Hungarian pharmacy ; ; He began his primary and secondary education in his hometown. He studied pharmacy at the University of Pest, spent his apprenticeship with József Spetz in Eger in 1810–1811, and then obtained his diploma in 1812127. In 1828 he opened his own pharmacy in Pest and in 1832 in Nyitra (both places addressed to the Savior), and ran it until 1858. In 1834 he became a councilor of the city of Nyitra, in 1844 a city captain and a county magistrate. In 1849–1850 he was county treasurer. He was most interested in botany. During his travels, he collected a herbarium of 60,000 leaves. He supported domestic botanical research, Antal Rochel's work on the Banat flora was published with his support, József Sadler planned to publish a complete illustrated description of the nature of Hungary with him and Rochel. He described several new Hungarian plant species, and many of his data were published in the works of others. He studied plant parasites of human skin and also dealt with zoology. He also had a rich collection of snails, shells and minerals. He was the founder of the first Hungarian-language pharmaceutical journal: the Gyógyszeréssi Hírlap, which was published in Nyitra from August 15, 1848 to November 15, 1848 under his editorship. In 1856–1857, he edited the journal Magyarhoni Természetbarát (also published in German: Der Naturfreund von Ungarn). He was a member of several Hungarian and foreign scientific societies. From the late 1850s he lived mostly in Bratislava: from 1856 he was a member, then from 1860 the treasurer of the Bratislava Natural History and Medical Society.
