* Polanic, 25 November 1739 – † Bratislava, 8 January 1814 / lawyer, university professor ; ; Studied in Graz and Vienna. First in Vienna, then from 1769 in Innsbruck, he was a law teacher (ecclesiastical law), from 1770 he was a professor of ecclesiastical law at the University of Nagyszombat, and from 1777–1780 at the University of Buda. From 1789 he was the director and censor of the university printing house. In his legal theory work (Institutio juris naturalis) he was a slavish follower of the Martini school of natural law, and for political reasons the work – since its approach corresponded to the views represented by the central government – was for a long time the only legal philosophy textbook at Hungarian universities. ; ; His main works: ; Juris publici ecclesiastici pars generalis, 1774, ; Praecognita juris ecclesiastici universi, 1775, ; Institutio elementorum juris naturalis, 1778, ; Institutiones juris ecclesiastici I – III., 1779–1781, ; De haereditario succedendi jure ducum primum, deinde regum Hungariae, 1809.
