Calvinist cottage cheese heaven

Other - other

The settlements of Balogvölgy belong to the Gömör villages where people once lived from agriculture. In addition to crop production, animal husbandry, especially cattle breeding, was very important. For this reason, many Hungarian dishes were based on dairy products and cottage cheese. Many people have preserved the custom of cooking folk dishes to this day. A traditional dish is still known in the countryside as cottage cheese sweets. ; ; Éva Pósa in Nemesradnót makes it as follows: Knead a soft dough from flour, eggs, salt and a little water. Divide the dough into three parts and let it rest for a while. Roll out the dough balls thinly, cut them into strips the length of the baking tray and 8-10 cm wide. Dip them in salted, boiling water, cool them in cold water and spread them on a kneading board to drain. Place a row of dough on the greased baking tray. (three or four strips next to each other). Brush the dough with a mixture of melted fat and butter. Sprinkle with salted cottage cheese, raisins, granulated sugar and drizzle with sour cream. Repeat this 4-5 times. Close the last row with dough, which is only brushed with fat. Bake in a preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. ; ;
