* Videfalva, March 21, 1796 – † Videfalva, March 28, 1874 / paleontologist, archaeologist, politician, honorary member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1858) ; ; Ágoston Kubinyi's brother. He graduated from the Lutheran Lyceum in Bánya-Biszterce. Here his teacher was András Zipser Keresztély (Bánya-Biszterce), about whose life he later wrote a book. He studied law and traveled abroad several times. From 1825 he participated in every parliament, and in the 1840s he belonged to the liberal opposition. Until 1848, together with his brother, he participated in the activities of Hungarian doctors and naturalists, in the traveling assemblies and in the founding of the Natural History Society, and he himself was engaged in scientific research. In 1848, he was a representative of the Losonc district, initially a supporter of the Batthyány government, then of Kossuth until the end of the War of Independence. After the fall, the military court sentenced him to 9 years of imprisonment, and he was released with a general pardon in 1852. He devoted himself to his scientific work until 1861. At the 1861 parliament, he joined the Decision Party. In 1862, he traveled to Constantinople with Arnold Ipolyi (Ipolykeszi) and Imre Henszlmann (Kassa) to study the Corvinas kept there. The few Corvinas that were returned were given to the library of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. After his return home, he engaged in scientific work, and for several years was the president of the Hungarian Geological Society. Several of his studies were published in the fields of paleontology, geology and archaeology.
