* Videfalva, 30 May 1799 – † Budapest, 19 September 1873 / museum director, naturalist, archaeologist, member of the board of directors of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1853) ; ; younger brother of Ferenc Kubinyi. He graduated from the Evangelical Lyceum in Bánya-Biszterce. He studied philosophy, botany, diplomacy, numismatics and archaeology at the University of Pest. From 1821 he held various positions in Nógrád County and the Evangelical Church. From 1843 to 1869, until his retirement, he was the director of the MNM. From a young age, he and his brother were passionate naturalists and collectors. He made great contributions with the interior decoration of the MNM building, the construction of the Museum Garden, and the rescue of the museum's endangered treasures in difficult times. With his participation, the Hungarian Geological Society was founded in 1848, of which he was the first president. He carried out a wide range of journalistic activities. The Hungarian Academy of Sciences elected him an honorary member in 1843 and a member of its board of directors in 1853.
