* Kematen/Austria, August 2, 1824 – † Vienna, April 21/25, 1905 / physician, naturalist, university professor ; ; In 1850, he received his medical and humanities degrees from the University of Vienna, and then was a tutor at the Vienna Veterinary Institute for a year. Between 1852 and 1861, he was a natural history teacher at the Higher Realist School in Bratislava. In 1855, he received his teaching certificate and also taught botany and zoology at the Vienna Polytechnic. During his time in Bratislava, he founded the Verein für Naturkunde (Society for Natural History) and edited its journal. From 1861, he taught only at the University of Applied Sciences in Vienna, in addition to the previously mentioned subjects, geology. He is also known as a paleontologist of dinosaurs, having discovered several new species (Carsosaurus marchesetti, Hydrosaurus (Pontosaurus) lesinensis, Opetiosaurus bucchichi). He also dealt with the climatic conditions of Bratislava.
