* July 26, 1937, Vágkirályfa - † March 27, 2020, Vágkirályfa / amateur poet and writer ; ; Kocsis Győző, or as he was known to generations of Vágkirályfa residents, Uncle Gyuszi, was born on July 26, 1937 in Vágkirályfa as the only child of József Kocsis and Gizella Bergendi. ; He attended school in Vágkirályfa, Vágsellye, Zsigárd, and then Érsekújvár. Here he obtained a high school diploma from the commercial academy, although he was almost expelled from school as an enthusiastic supporter of the 1956 revolution. During the days of the revolution, he wrote, and a classmate recited, his poem “What does the Hungarian nation hope for?” As a punishment, they had to repeat a year. ; In 1959, he married the love of his life, Mária Benes. They had two children, Zoltán and Annabella. ; Győző Kocsis worked for several industrial companies in Vágsellyé and Galánta during his life. First as a warehouse manager, purchasing department manager, and then as a technical director. ; He retired in 1995, and that was when his writing career really began. However, he had been actively involved in cultural life much earlier. From 1961, he wrote plays and worked as an amateur actor. He also received national recognition for his portrayal of the main character in Béla Lovicsek's play Végállomás. ; He enthusiastically collected material relics of the peasant culture of Vágkirályfa and the surrounding area, from which ethnographic exhibitions were presented not only in his native village, but also in neighboring settlements. He also enjoyed visiting elementary schools and telling children about old traditions. This activity inspired the students of the Vágsellye elementary school, who worked on the life of Győző Kocsis in the Treasure Hunters competition. ; Uncle Gyuszi also collected photographs, which he diligently categorized and which the village population could view within the framework of several exhibitions. The 1,500-piece photo collection faithfully reflects the past of his native village and will remain as eternal documentation for posterity. ; In 2011, he took up the axe. He tried to find out the lives and final resting places of the Vágkirályfai residents who fell in World War II. As a result of this work, his book, Akikért nem szállás a harang, was published. ; In 2017, his first collection of poems, Könnyek és vikarot, was published. The title of the volume is not accidental, the tears speak of the author's wounds and sadness during his life, while the flowers refer to the beautiful things that happened in his life, to youth and love. These poems are addressed to those who love our village and love poems. They were written for us, the royal families, for us, who still know where Abacsony, Szakajtás, Földverem are - where they were. ; In the same year, the Slovak Hungarian Cultural Institute tells the best-known stories of Győző Kocsis's Vágkirályfa in the Living Folk Poetry DVD series. ; In December 2019, another dream comes true, thanks to sponsorship, his second collection of poems entitled Dreams in the Mist of Passing will be published. Streets, trees, riverside pebbles emerge in the reader's imagination, feelings and tastes come to life that they once felt during village holidays. The poems capture the wonders of existence. Everything that a person can experience in their lifetime emerges: love, disappointment, joy and sorrow, birth and death.
