Renaissance bell tower of Késmárki

Opposite the Church of the Holy Cross is the Renaissance belfry built in 1591, which is declared the most beautiful monument of the Spiš region. Similar belfries can be found in the surrounding towns and villages, e.g. Poprad, Őrlak, etc. ; The Keszmárk tower has a quadratic base, decorated with a battlement, the coat of arms of the Habsburg family, the Hungarian coat of arms and the coat of arms of the city of Keszmárk. ; The oldest bell dates from 1525 and was originally placed on the tower of the Church of the Holy Cross. Additional bells date from 1982 and 1983. The belfry is connected to the former Catholic folk school. To the south of the belfry is the building of the old Latin school, which dates from 1536 and is one of the oldest schools in Keszmárk. Charita was established in this building with financial support.
