Adam Kereskenyi

* Csúz, 24 January 1713 – † Kolozsvár, 1 February 1777 / Jesuit teacher, printing director, writer, translator ; ; He entered the Society of Jesus in October 1729. He studied philosophy in Nagyszombat, then became a novice in Trenčín, and from 1731 to 1733 was a junior teacher in Esztergom. In 1733 to 1734 he studied physics and metaphysics in Nagyszombat. He taught again in Bratislava for a year, then first studied poetry in Nagyszombat, rhetoric in Buda in 1738, and theology in Vienna in 1739–1742. In 1743 he spent his third probationary year in Banská Bystrica. After that, he was a preacher and teacher in Esztergom in 1744, in Nagyszombat from 1746 to 1748, in Győr in 1750, and in Vienna in 1754. Between 1756 and 1759, he was the rector of the Jesuit college in Kőszeg. Then from 1760 to 1766, he was the head of the monastery in Buda. Then from 1767 to 1768, he was the head of the house in Kassán and the director of the printing house of the order. From 1770 to 1772, he was the director of the Jesuit seminary and school in Gyulafehérvár. In 1773, he became the director and head of the house in Kolozsvár. He wrote church works and school dramas in Hungarian and Latin.
