* Selmecbánya, 7 January 1725 – † Bélabánya, after 1780 / Jesuit missionary, South American ; traveler ; ; He studied at the Nagyszombat College and then at the Košice College. He was a teacher at the Jesuit Gymnasium in Eprejes for two years. In 1753, in Portuguese service, he sailed to Brazil in the company of Hungarian Jesuits János Szluha and Dávid Fáy and worked in the reductions (missionary colonies) of the Marañón province for six years. He wrote letters to his fellow Jesuits in Europe about his observations, experiences and his Jesuit companions. When the Jesuit order was dissolved in Portugal (1759), he was deported from America together with the other missionaries and imprisoned in the São Julião Castle Prison in Portugal. He was only released in 1777. He then returned to his hometown, where he served as a parish priest. Later, he was transferred to Bélabánya, where he died.
