* Szádalmás, August 5, 1934 – † Rozsnyó, April 5, 1999 / sociologist, local historian, public writer, university lecturer ; ; He began his school studies in his native village, graduated from the Hungarian Pedagogical High School in Bratislava in 1953, and obtained a Hungarian-history teaching diploma from the Pedagogical College in Bratislava in 1958. He taught in rural schools for a few years, and from 1962 at the Pedagogical College in Nitra as an assistant professor. Between 1964 and 1970 he was a post-graduate student at the Institute of Sociology of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. After 1968 he became a victim of political reprisals and was prevented from defending his candidate's degree. Between 1970 and 1990 he worked as a warehouse worker and then as a nurse at the mental hospital in Pelsőc. He was rehabilitated in 1990 and was allowed to return to the college in Nitra, where he advocated the reorganization of Hungarian-language education, but was retired in 1994. His scientific interests focused on examining the role of the intelligentsia and the cultural and social situation of the Hungarians in the Uplands. He is considered the pioneer of Hungarian cultural sociology and scientific sociography in Czechoslovakia.
