István Kaprinai

* Érsekújvár, September 14, 1714 – † Nagyszombat, December 26, 1785 / Jesuit priest teacher, historian ; ; He worked as a teacher in various Jesuit convents (e.g. Sárospatak, Eger, Nagyvárad), most recently in Košice and Kolozsvár. He also taught gypsies for two years. Around 1764, during his time in Košice, he began to engage in historical research, primarily collecting sources. He continued this in Nagyszombat from 1766. 102 volumes of his own collected material and 54 volumes of material collected by others but arranged in his copy are currently in the University Library of Budapest. Of all these, only a part of the documents relating to the era of Matthias (Hungaria diplomatica temporibus Mathiae de Hunyad regis Hungariae I-II., 1767-1771) were published in print during his lifetime.
