* Bratislava, 1811 – † Pest, September 17, 1858 / physician, specialist writer ; ; The Bratislava yeshiva studied Talmud, then graduated from high school and enrolled in the medical department of the University of Pest, where he obtained a doctorate in medicine in 1838. He then deepened his knowledge in Vienna, and then undertook military medical service in Italy and Dalmatia. In 1840, he made a scientific tour of the coastal parts of Croatia. After that, he left the army and began practicing in Sárvár. In 1848–1849, as the chief physician of Vas County, he undertook work that was almost beyond his capacity in combating rinderpest and cholera. In 1852, he resigned from county service and settled in Pest, where he began to deal with balneology. The fame of his work reached abroad, and several scientific societies accepted him as an honorary member.
