Landmarks of celebrities and significant events in the memorial park

The southern section of the Paulisz Ranch was included in the territory of the Esterházy János Pilgrimage Center, but there are also some more significant monuments in the northern parts. The central element of the memorial park is an arboretum, which projects a miniature map of the Carpathian Basin and the Carpathians onto the terrain, while presenting the characteristic tree species of each area, e.g. the dwarf pine of the high mountains or the oaks of the lower areas. The introductory text of the arboretum was borrowed from the famous church writer and bishop Ottokár Prohászka, born in Nitra. Also here, you can see the Turul bird, set on a tall stone column, the pieces of which come from the millennium conquest monument erected on Zobor Hill and then blown up. From the fragments collected in the forest, at the initiative of Paulisz Boldizsár, with the help of Szombathely, and with the work of restorer Heszter Aladár, a turul was reconstructed, which was placed on the memorial pillar in 2015. Also located here is the four-language monument (Albanian, Slovak, English, Hungarian) of the tragically fateful Geraldine Apponyi (1915-2002), who came from nearby Felsőelefánt and became Queen of Albania after marrying Ahmed Zogu. Italian fascism expelled them, but the later communist and other regimes did not allow them to return to Tirana. They lived most of their lives in exile abroad. The monument was initiated by Paulisz Boldizsár and Sándor Fehér, and was unveiled on the queen's 100th birthday in 2015 with the participation of relatives and court representatives of the Zogu family. The last significant monument in the park is the inscribed stone monument commemorating the 2011 Highland meeting of the Order of St. George held here.
