During World War II, wounded soldiers were taken to the medical center-camp in Košice from Russia. After a short stay there, they were transported to Pest, the base of their unit, from where they could go home. Ferenc Hegedűs is among those present on the left side of the picture; his hand was wounded and suffered permanent damage. He could not raise his left hand for the rest of his life. The photo was taken around 1943.
