* Dicske, September 24, 1780 – † Pest, February 5, 1856 / agronomist, pioneer of the mechanization of agriculture ; ; He completed his school studies in Nyitra, Bratislava, and his agricultural and natural science studies at the University of Vienna. In 1805, he became the head of the palace and Csicsó counties of Gr. István Zichy, then in 1816, of Gr. Nepomuk János Esterházy, Veszprém County, and in 1827, he became the head of all his estates. In 1823 and 1841, he studied farms in Western Europe (Saxony, Prussian Silesia, England, etc.), especially sheep farming. In 1848, he was elected president of the agricultural department of the National Hungarian Agricultural Association (OMGE), and in 1851, he was elected president of the mechanical and surgical departments. In 1852, he brought threshing and reaping machines from England. He also researched the flora of the Bakony Mountains, and his manuscript (Flora Bakonyiensis) is kept in the Zirc Abbey Library. He was a member of several Hungarian and foreign economic and natural science societies. His prestigious library, containing primarily works on natural science and economic topics, was inherited by his grandson, Gyula Schvarcz (1839–1900), historian, university professor, cultural politician, and member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, who was raised in his grandfather's house from the age of two.
