* Nagyszombat, December 26, 1819 – † Celldömölk, January 24, 1900 / Benedictine abbot, astronomer, member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1863) ; ; He began his secondary school studies in his hometown and completed them in Bratislava. In 1835, he entered the Benedictine order, where he took the name Justinián. He completed a philosophy course in Győr and obtained a teaching certificate in Bakonybél. He obtained a teaching diploma in mathematics and physics. He taught in several secondary schools of the order. He spent five years as a novice teacher in Győr. During his time as a teacher in Sopron, he dedicated himself to the cultivation of natural sciences, especially natural science. He translated into Hungarian and published in 1855 Jakab Schabus's schoolbook Easy-to-understand basic elements of natural science for lower secondary and gymnasium schools. As a result of his immersion in natural science and continuous knowledge gathering, he wrote his work Popular Astronomy in 1864, which the Academy awarded him with the “Hungarian Ladies’ Prize”. In 1873–1874, he was a high school principal in Esztergom, and then abbot in Celldömölk until his death. He continued his scientific work until the end of his life, although he spent most of his time developing his new and final residence. He is credited with establishing the monastery and the school operating there in 1891. He donated his savings and the proceeds of his literary work to the school. The square in front of the abbey headquarters and around the church was named after him.
