* Modor, June 14, 1800 – † Lugos, September 25, 1857 / botanist, physician ; ; He collected plants while still a high school student in Modor and Bratislava. After his university studies in Vienna and Pest (1827), he became a doctor of medicine and a manorial physician. From 1829, he was the chief physician of Krassó County in Lugos. From 1853, he practiced private medicine. He researched and processed the flora of the Banat. Along with Pál Kitaibel and Ferdinand Schur (1799–1878), he described most of the domestic plant species. He was a member of several foreign scientific societies, including the St. Petersburg Academy. Several plants bear his name.
