Hetényi Great Lake

The village of Hetény was repopulated after the Turkish wars, sometime after 1606. The new residents came from the area of the Váh and Garam rivers to the present-day Aszeg and Őrspuszta, or present-day Sunnyogó. The new residents built their houses from rammed clay. The material needed for construction was dug out from certain parts of the village. The land dug out in this way was saturated with water due to rain and snowmelt, and thus the lakes of the village were formed. For example, Komjáti-tó, Cigánytó, Kocsis-tó, Kocsma-tó, Temető-tó, Fődíte, and a part of Nagy-tó. ; A hundred years ago, there were many lakes in Hetény. Since then, people have buried them or they have dried up. Of these, only Nagy-tó remains. However, this too was endangered sometime in the 1980s. However, it was saved at the last minute, and in 1983 it was deepened and the reeds were brought under control. In 1925, Berlin filmmakers filmed here and filmed the large lake. Several Hetényi people appeared in the film, but today we can only read about this event in the pages of Komáromi Lapok. The material could not be obtained, as the Berlin film company was privately owned at the time. ; In the 2000s, the Great Lake of Hetény was again endangered by pollution - several people discharged household sewage into it and threw garbage into it -, reed growth, and then the subsidence of the water. However, in 2010, the village had it deepened and cleaned again. Since 2011, the lake has been rented by a private entrepreneur and operated as a fishing lake. On the peninsula in the middle of the lake, all the old, dangerous and allergenic poplar trees were cut down and new trees were planted. The fishing lodge in the middle of the lake was renovated, and fishing spots were established on the inner shore. ; The reeds are allowed to spread on the outer shore to serve as a hiding place for fish, and the old willows and poplars have been preserved. ; Since then, resting places have also been established around the lake. Thus, the Great Lake, together with the Gólya lodge in the middle, has become one of the most beautiful and most visited parts of Hetény. ; ;
