* Bártfa, 24 April 1549 – † Augsburg, 31 May 1618 / doctor of medicine, polymath ; ; At the expense of his hometown, he studied philology and medical sciences from 1566 in Wittenberg, then in Leipzig and Basel. He wrote poetry in Latin and was also proficient in mathematics, which is why he was elected as a teacher of mathematics, logic and rhetoric at the Augsburg Gymnasium in 1575. After obtaining his doctorate in medicine (Basel, 12 April 1576), he taught at the University of Basel, then practiced medicine in Augsburg and settled permanently in the city after marrying the daughter of a local patrician. Between 1580 and 1617, he was director of the city gymnasium. He published numerous works written in Latin and German. The Epitome geographiae veteris et novae is geographical in theme, which can be considered a kind of physical and astronomical geography and summarized knowledge about the earth. In addition, he translated several Latin works dealing with medicinal herbs and substances found in animals into German, but he also transcribed Greek authors into Latin. His most notable work is the Thesaurus Sapientiae et Linguae Germanicae, cum significatione Haebraica, Graeca, Anglica, Hungarica, Italica etc. Pars I. Augustae Vindelicorum, 1616, which he was unable to continue due to his death.
