PRESERVING OUR FOLK ART TRADITIONS ; “Tradition is a deep well: the source of human life. ; Only by being filled with the water of this well can a person become what they should be. ; Attila Végh ; ; FOLK MUSIC LIFE IN VÁSÁRÚT ; “Even the most beautiful music is in vain, that is, we write only for abroad, if we do not first bring our own people into such a position that they understand what we write.” ; Zoltán Kodály ; ; Our village, Vásárút, can boast a very rich folk music tradition. Our settlement has always had an active musical life, and the love and cultivation of folk music has played a significant role in its everyday life. ; FOLK MUSIC GROUPS IN OUR VILLAGE ; Various musical groups have a long tradition in Vásárút: ; 1. FOLK CHOIR (1988-89) - founded under the leadership of Kornélia Nagy; 2. WOMEN'S CHOIR (1989-90) - led by TIBOR ÁGH; 3. MIXED CHOIR (1991- 2001) - led by BÉLA AGÓCS; 4. MIXED CHOIR (2001- 2007) - led by Hedvig Oravecz; 5. CHOIR (2007- present) - led by Zsolt Zsapka; 6. Choir operating at JÓZSEF ATTILA PRIMARY SCHOOL AND KINDERGARTEN, led by Anita Alföldy; ; SUCCESSIONS OF OUR MIXED CHOIR; Under the leadership of conductor Béla Agócs, our mixed choir achieved great success. During this period, it fulfilled countless requests. It regularly participated in the events of the settlement, and also received several foreign invitations. ; ; DALÁRDA ; The greatest successes of our village were brought by the Dalárda, founded in 2007. ; The core of the ensemble is made up of the male members of the mixed choir, which has been operating for more than 15 years and has achieved many successes. ; They represent our settlement at numerous invitations and events not only here at home, but also in Slovenia and Hungary. ; They have about 200 performances per year. They consider it important to transmit Hungarian folk songs, which were left to us as a legacy by our predecessors here, in our narrower region - Csallóköz -. ; Their performances often feature various instrumental accompaniments (e.g. pumpkin zither, timpani, but they also sing songs accompanied by guitar - World War I military notes). ; ; The successes of the Dalárda: ; In 2008, they won third place in the district round of the "Tradition Keepers" (Nositelia tradícií) national competition. ; In 2010, they achieved the Gold Award at the “Spring Wind Pours Water” folk song competition and in 2011, in the finals of the “Purple Beautiful Rose” national folk song competition. ; In 2012, they became the winners of the Golden Peacock Award. ; So far, they have released two albums. ; ; OUR SCHOOL CHOIR ; Our school’s children’s choir was founded 18 years ago. It is led by teacher Anita Alföldy. Our choir consists primarily of lower-grade students, but a few upper-grade students also help our team. ; In the beginning, they sang folk songs appropriate for the given holidays, and then, to meet the needs of today’s children, folk songs were replaced by poems set to music and popular music.
