* Vásárút, April 16, 1892 – † Sopron, February 10, 1986 / historian, archivist, corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences ; ; He graduated from the Bratislava Catholic High School and obtained a teaching certificate in history and geography at the Budapest University of Science and Technology. He wrote his doctoral dissertation on the medieval history of Detrekő Castle (Detrekő Castle in the Middle Ages, 1917). In World War I, he fought on the Russian and Romanian fronts and received several war decorations. In September 1918, he was seriously wounded, demobilized, and became the chief archivist of the Sopron City Archives. He set about organizing the neglected archives and publishing the certificates found there. He started a family in the city and was actively involved in the preparation of the 1921 Sopron referendum. He carried out an extremely diverse range of work. In 1924, he discovered The Flower Song of Sopron and the Hungarian-Latin Glossary of Sopron. Several books and countless smaller and larger studies were published by him on the history of the church and music of Sopron, its pharmacy, and the organization of the city's civil law. One of his most significant works was the publication of the 13-volume document archive, in which he published all the city's documents, wills, accounting books, and other records up to and including 1526. The Hungarian Academy of Sciences elected him a corresponding member in 1938. On December 16, 1944, he was arrested by the Gestapo, but was later released. In 1946, as a delegate of the Sopron municipal committee, he successfully protested to the government against the deportation of Germans living in the city.
