* Vágújhely, 1828 – † Budapest, March 5, 1902 / cartographer ; ; He graduated from the Technical University in Olomouc and then in Buda, and fought as a lieutenant in the Hungarian army during the War of Independence and was taken prisoner. After his release, he worked at the Vienna Geographical Institute. From 1867, he worked in Budapest, first in the service of the Ministry of Trade and then in the Statistical Office. He is considered one of the founders of Hungarian cartography. He designed many hundreds of maps (including county maps), several of which were published in foreign geographical works. His works were characterized by extraordinary accuracy and expertise. He received numerous domestic and foreign awards.
