* Poprad, November 17, 1776 – † Bratislava, September 25, 1831 / Lutheran pastor, church historian, children's book writer ; ; In 1788 he began his secondary school studies at the Keszmárk Lyceum, and also spent a year in Miskolc, where he studied Hungarian. After that, he became a student at the Lutheran Lyceum in Bratislava. In 1796, he studied theology in Jena, then accepted the invitation of Salzmann (1744–1811), a Lutheran pastor and teacher from Schnepfenthal (today: part of Waltershausen), a well-known philanthropist, and worked with him until 1803. In 1804, he took up the office of Lutheran pastor in Vienna, which he only held until 1816 due to his deteriorating health. In 1824, he settled in Bratislava. On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the Reformation, he published several church history studies on the history of the Reformation in Hungary. His works of fiction and popular literature, as well as reading books intended for children and young people, written in German and later translated into several languages, were very popular in contemporary Europe. They began to be published in Hungarian after his death, from the 1840s. He maintained an extensive correspondence with intellectuals from Spiš, including György Károly Rumy (Igló).
