* Komárom, 6 June 1797 – † Vienna, 9 July 1845 / orientalist, member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences ; ; He studied philosophy and law, then tutored the children of Count Pál Széchenyi for 9 years. From 1823 he worked in various archives in Vienna, and from 1827 to 1838 he was the fourth scribe of the Court Library. From 1838 to 1841 he was the third scribe, and from 1841 he was the second scribe. It was recorded that he spoke several languages (Hungarian, German, Latin, French, Italian, Spanish, English) well, understood Portuguese and Swedish, and read Danish, Dutch, and Modern Greek with the help of a dictionary. In addition to European languages, he also thoroughly studied Turkish and Persian. During his archival work, he systematized the documents that provided information about Hungarian-Ottoman relations, but he also dealt with comparative linguistics (he examined the similarities and differences between the Hungarian, Turkish and Persian languages). He published numerous documents of source value. In 1831, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences elected him a corresponding member.
