Joseph Adolf Grego

* Hontmarót, 29 January 1746 – † Kolozsvár, 15 April 1812 / Piarist mathematics teacher, astronomer ; ; Between 1764 and 1777 he taught rhetoric, poetry and philosophy in several renowned schools of the time (Nyitra, Szentgyörgy, Tata). Between 1778 and 1809 he lectured on mathematics at the philosophy faculty of the Kolozsvár Royal College and was the head of the school's observatory. After the fire of 1798, he had important contributions to the reorganization of the institution. He wrote significant textbooks, dealt in detail with the teaching of practical geometry, the issues of surveying (land surveying, map editing) and time measurement.
