Joseph Gagyor

* Ipolynyék, March 15, 1941 – / teacher, ethnographic collector, local historian ; ; He graduated from Ipolyság in 1958, then obtained a primary school teacher's diploma at the Higher Pedagogical School in Bratislava (1960). At that time, he finally broke away from his homeland and created an existence for himself in Mátyusföld. He taught in Tallós from 1960 to 1969, in Diószeg from 1969 to 1972, was the director of the Tallós special school between 1972 and 1992, and the director of the Hidaskürt primary school from 1992 to 2003. He obtained a Hungarian-Slovak teacher's qualification by correspondence at the Pedagogical College in Nyitra (1970). He is primarily engaged in collecting folk rhymes and children's games from Mátyusföld, local words from Tallós, as well as dialect research and local history. His popularization, local history and journalistic writings appear in Slovak Hungarian newspapers and anthologies. He has published several booklets about the sights of Tallós (Esterházy Castle, Lourdes Cave, church, etc.). Several volumes compiled for children have been published from his ethnographic collection. In 2005, he was awarded the silver medal of the Government of the Slovak Republic, and in 2007, he received the Hungarian Teachers' Award of the Upper Hungarian Region. ; ; His main works: ; Go on the Ring Pilgrimage I-II., 1982, ; In Memory.
