* Saint Petersburg, January 19, 1840 – † Ószéplak, July 17, 1913 / landowner, meteorologist ; ; His father, Baron Gusztáv Friesenhof, was an Austrian diplomat who had been a landowner in Brogyán since the 1840s. His son spent his childhood here. He studied law at the University of Vienna between 1859 and 1863, and agriculture at the Academy in Magyaróvár between 1863 and 1865. He farmed in Nedanóc, Nyitra County, and then in Ószéplak until his death. In 1873, he established a meteorological observation station, which over time developed into a kind of observatory for agro-meteorological observations in Nyitra County. It primarily dealt with weather forecasting and was able to predict the weather for two weeks in advance with relatively satisfactory accuracy. He published articles on economic and meteorological topics in Hungarian and German journals. He edited the journals Laubfrosch and Időjárás – in which he published the weather observations of his observatory. From 1884 he published the Időjárási Kalentár and the Wetterkalender.
