* Levoča, 12 February 1944 – / smelting engineer, analytical chemist, university professor ; ; He completed his secondary school studies in Prešov (1961). He obtained a diploma from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (1966), and a candidate of chemical sciences degree from the Comenius University in Bratislava in 1972. He defended his doctoral dissertation (DrSc.) in 1991 at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. From 1966 he was an assistant professor, associate professor (1992), and professor (1994) at the Technical University of Košice. Deputy Dean, Vice-Rector (1994, 2000–2007), Rector (1994–1997) of the Faculty of Metallurgical Engineering, Head of the Department of Physical and Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Šafárik University, Košice (1998–2000), Head of the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Metallurgical Engineering, University of Technology (2003–2010). His research interests include the application and evaluation of analytical chemical and spectroscopic methods in metallurgy, solid sample analysis and environmental science. He has published nearly 120 scientific publications and three scientific monographs. He is an organizer and regular speaker at international scientific conferences. Seven doctoral dissertations have been written under his supervision so far. ; Member of the scientific councils of several universities (János Selye University in Komárom, the Technical University of Košice, the Faculty of Humanities and Natural Sciences of the University of Prešov), the Doctoral Council of the University of Miskolc, founding president of the Carpathian Region University Association in 1994–2001. Member of the Scientific Council of the Slovak Accreditation Committee in 2002–2005. Member of the Chemistry, Chemical Industry-Technology and Biotechnology Working Group of the Slovak Accreditation Committee, the Chemistry Working Group of the Joint Application Committee of the Slovak Accreditation Committee and Slovak Universities (VEGA). Member or senior official of various domestic and international scientific societies. ; Honorary Doctor of the University of Miskolc (2004), Honorary Doctor of the Szent István University of Gödöllő (2008), Honorary Professor of the University of Óbuda. Awards and prizes: J. Marcus Marci Medal of the Czech/Slovak Spectroscopy Society (1994), Medal of the Slovak Chemical Society (1994), Silver Medal of the Slovak Chemical Society (2003), Daniel Belluš Medal of the Slovak Chemical Society (2009), Gold Commemorative Medal of the University of Economics in Bratislava (1997), Silver Medal of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Šafárik (2001), Gold Medal of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Šafárik (2009), Dániel Fejér Memorial Medal (2003), Award and plaque of the Mayor of Košice (2004).
