* Bratislava, September 29, 1732 – † Vienna, February 4, 1795 / mineralogist, councilor of the Transylvanian government ; ; He completed his high school studies in his hometown, then studied law and worked as a lawyer for eight years. In 1759, he took up an office in the economic administration in Transylvania and lived alternately in Sibiu and Vienna. Joseph II appointed him councilor of the Transylvanian government in 1787 and in this capacity he made two major trips to Slavonia and along the Adriatic Sea. In addition to his official duties, he primarily dealt with the minerals and fossils of Transylvania. He is considered the founder of Transylvanian paleontology. Several foreign scientific and professional societies also elected him an honorary member.
