In 1863 he was an intern at the Council of Governors, in 1865 an assistant teacher, from 1867 he was an extraordinary and then a regular teacher at the Košice and Bratislava Law Academy (teacher of university and Hungarian legal history, church law) from 1873, and director of the academy from 1899.
