* Salgótarján, 1885. Jun. 10. – † Vác, 1952. Apr. 7. / journalist, editor, writer ; ; He came from a poor peasant family. In 1903 he became a member of the Socialist Democratic Party of Mo. In the early 1910s he was the director of the workers' insurance fund in Turócszentmárton, where he became acquainted with the problems of nationalities. He spent the first years of the Second World War as a medic on the Russian and Italian fronts. After the establishment of the Hungarian Soviet Republic, he participated in the organization of the Czechoslovak communist section in Bp., and was the People's Commissar for Internal Affairs of the Slovak Soviet Republic. After the fall of the Soviet Republic, he was arrested in Mo. and sentenced to one year in prison. After his release, he came to Po., and here he worked as a journalist in the Hungarian-language press of the Social Democratic Party, and between 1935 and 1938 he was the editor-in-chief of the Czechoslovak Népszava. In 1938–1945 he stayed in Mo. again, mostly illegally. After 1945 he held important political positions. He was also arrested during the concept trials, and died in the Vác prison in 1952. ; ; He also wrote works of fine prose and drama. In his novel Éljen a háború c. he processed his war experiences in the form of a diary. The work, aesthetically and structurally undemanding, but effective from the point of view of antimilitarism, was classified by critics as a work of documentary literature. His stories and audio plays are also of this nature and quality.
