* Levoca, September 3, 1839 – † Göttingen, October 5, 1910 / railway engineer, art historian, member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1903) ; ; son of lawyer Sámuel Fabriczy (Poprád). He completed high school in Levoca in 1850–1857. He was a student at the Vienna Polytechnic in 1857–1858, then at the Karlsruhe and Zurich Polytechnics in 1861–1863 and obtained a diploma in railway engineering. Between 1863–1868 he served the Württemberg Railway, and from 1868 on the Hungarian Railway. Between 1871–1873 he worked as a supervisor during the construction of the Gömör railways. In 1876 he “changed his career” and devoted himself entirely to art history studies. In 1876–1878 he stayed in Italy, mainly in Rome and Naples, and in 1878–1880 in Paris and London. At the end of 1880 he settled in Stuttgart and married (his wife: Zsófia Ziegler). Later he moved with his family to Tübingen. He became known primarily as a researcher of 15th century Italian architecture and sculpture, and he also followed the artistic and cultural life in Hungary.
