After the resumption of Hungarian education, parents enthusiastically enrolled their children in Hungarian-language schools. The first-graders of the 1953/54 school year in the end-of-year class photo, with principal János Kovács and teacher Irén Soós. The photographer captured the children in front of the ruined wall on the kindergarten side of the nationalized, former Catholic school yard.
