* Bratislava, October 28, 1902 – † Budapest, April 9, 1982 / librarian ; ; His father, Sándor Domanovszky (Nagyszsony, May 27, 1877 – Budapest, April 30, 1955), was a historian, university professor, corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, editor of the highly successful Hungarian Cultural History I–IV. work, who taught at the Bratislava High School between 1899 and 1904. Ákos Domanovszky studied law in Budapest and Munich and received his doctorate in 1925. He was an assistant professor at the Faculty of Economics of the József University of Technology in Budapest. In 1926, he was an official of the National Book Circulation and Bibliography Center, in 1927, he worked at the University Library, and in the meantime, in 1928–1929, he studied library science in Berlin. From 1935 he was the director of the University Library of Pécs, from 1942 he worked again at the University Library of Budapest as the chief librarian, and from 1945 until his retirement in 1972 as the deputy director. During his years as a librarian in Pécs, he completed the reforms begun by József Fitz in 1930. In Budapest, he managed the processing work of the library with great competence. Under his leadership, the modernization of the cataloging system of the University Library began. ; He was an internationally renowned authority on cataloging, and he published numerous studies on this subject.
